Bush and Cheney Release Tax Returns — No Response (Yet) From Liberals

How many times have you heard people complain about how rich (and evil) Bush and Cheney are? And, of course, they’ll mention oil, and Halliburton, and Saudi princes, and the rest of the Michael Moore talking points.

But the truth is that the Clintons are far and away richer (and probably more evil) than the Bushes and the Cheneys. As I’ve previously reported, the Clintons’ tax returns showed that they earned over $100,000,000 during the past 8 years. Now, from CNN, it’s Bush and Cheney’s turn:

President and Mrs. George W. Bush reported taxable income of $719, 274 for the tax year 2007 and paid $221,635 in federal income taxes, the White House said Friday

Vice President Cheney and his wife earned $2,528,068, the White House said, and owe taxes of $602,651.

O.K., extrapolation time: Let’s assume that Bush and Cheney had off-years, and actually earned twice as much during the previous 7 years — providing a basis so we can compare each family’s earnings.

The estimated Bush family earnings since 2000: $10.5 million.

The estimated Cheney family earnings since 2000: $37.5 million.

The estimated Clinton family earnings since 2000: far more than Bush and Cheney’s combined.

Ending a piece of writing with a quote is such a bad habit, but I can’t resist: A great man once said, “Facts are stubborn things.”
